Let’s set the record straight: I don’t wake up at 5 a.m., do yoga on a pristine balcony, then journal beside a steaming matcha while gently easing into a color-coded content strategy.
I wake up to barking dogs, a child asking if Pop-Tarts count as breakfast, and a to-do list that looks like it’s been written in tongues. And yet… somehow, businesses are being built.
🧠 What It Looks Like to “Do It All” (Spoiler: I Don’t)
Between managing a virtual assistant brand, two Etsy shops (Charmed Pebble and Inkwell & Fern), running a blog, and not completely losing my mind, I’ve had to get really good at letting go of perfection and working in low-energy sprints.
I do 10 minutes here, 30 minutes there.
Sometimes I write from the couch with a heating pad.
Other times I’m scheduling Etsy listings while my dogs fight over who gets the sunny spot on the floor.
🗂 How I Actually Make It Work
- Batching: If I’m in the zone, I batch graphics, blog content, or listing photos. I know that energy is inconsistent, so when it shows up, I ride that wave.
- Trello + Sticky Notes: One is digital. One is chaos on paper. Together? They’re my ADHD-proof dream team. I’m still learning Trello and even Notion, because my old brain still prefers pen and paper.
- Automating the little stuff: I use Canva templates for just about everything. Product labels, pins, email downloads… if I’ve done it twice, it’s templated now.
- Working around real life: Some days I’m in boss mode. Other days, I’m juggling parenting, chronic illness flares, and trying to keep coffee from spilling on the dog.
🧙♀️ A Glimpse at the Business Breakdown
Inkwell & Fern is my cozy, intentional digital download shop where I create planners and journals for people like me — big dreamers with limited energy. Everything is made for low-key productivity and gentle progress.
Charmed Pebble is the magical, trinket-filled witchy shop where I sell spell jars, charms, and (eventually) personalized tarot readings. It’s where I get to embrace the mystical side of my brain — and yes, sparkle is a brand value.
Percolated VA work happens in between all of it — Facebook group engagement, client strategy, and cheerleading other creatives through burnout and back again.
Not to mention, managing my own social medias, groups, and other little ventures I am in! Its a lot and it takes a lot of time to manage it all!
🐾 Office Staff Commentary (a.k.a. the Dogs)
I asked the office staff for a quote about how things are going around here lately. Their official statement?
“The productivity is fine, but the snack schedule is inconsistent and there has been zero follow-through on promised walk breaks. We will be speaking to HR (aka the treat jar).”
Fair.
They’ll have their full rebuttal in this week’s Office Staff Report, but for now, just know that they’re watching… and judging. Mostly judging.
💛 Final Thoughts
Running multiple businesses from home isn’t easy, especially when your office is also a living room, a dog park, and sometimes a blanket fort. But it’s possible. Not perfect. Not always pretty. But possible.
