Welcome to another edition of the Office Staff Report — where deadlines are optional, naps are frequent, and the only water cooler talk involves licking the actual water bowl. The team (furry and fabulous) has been working hard in their own mysterious way, and we’re here to break it down. This week’s theme? Organized chaos with a side of dog hair.
Productivity this week started off strong… for about fifteen minutes. Spartacus immediately launched into Monday with a series of hallway zoomies, effectively sweeping up dust bunnies with nothing but enthusiasm and toe beans. Charlie, meanwhile, took one sniff of the to-do list and retreated under the desk for a six-hour strategic visioning nap. Tuesday was spent intensely watching the mailman through the window. It was unclear if the tail wags were friendly or a warning. Either way, no deliveries were missed. Midweek motivation dipped slightly. A chewed pen incident put one project on hold. Sparatcus maintains it was an act of protest against poor treat compensation. Thursday was… quiet. Almost too quiet. We later discovered the entire team had moved operations to the laundry basket. Business casual, of course.
Let’s talk behavior. Charlie continues to believe barking at falling leaves is a core duty. She also attempted to recruit a neighborhood cat into the pack by whining at the back door for an hour. The cat declined the offer. Sparatcus earned a temporary demotion for stealing a banana peel (again), but redeemed himself later by providing emotional support during a frustrating Canva meltdown. He does this by dramatically leaning his entire body against yours while making soft grumbling sounds. It’s incredibly effective.
In the admin department, one team member deleted an important draft by stepping on the keyboard. We’re considering paw-sized keyboard covers. There were also several unscheduled but impactful breaks taken: one during a Zoom call where both dogs began play-fighting on camera (apologies to the client), and one when a chew toy got stuck under the couch, prompting a 30-minute excavation operation. We did not recover the toy, but we did find an old USB drive, three unmatched socks, and two hair ties. Win-win.
On the wellness front, everyone has been drinking more water (from all available bowls, glasses, and shower puddles). Stretching is a priority — usually in the form of dramatic full-body wiggles right in the middle of your walking path. We’re also proud to report a consistent 18-hour sleep cycle across the team. Goals.
Staff recommendations for management this week include: – Increase in crunchy snack distribution – Addition of a blanket to every room (for naps, not decoration) – An end to bath-related threats – Rename Monday to ‘Pre-Treat Day’ to boost morale – Establish an on-call treat representative for high-stress moments (aka every time the doorbell rings)
So while the to-do list may not be finished, the couch has been thoroughly inspected, emotional support has been generously provided, and all squeaky toys are accounted for. The Office Staff may not be corporate-approved, but they’re certified in unconditional loyalty, comedic relief, and elite-level snuggles.
