Scaling Down to Level Up: The Power of Walking Away (Even When It Hurts Your Ego a Little)

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in this ridiculous, caffeinated, work-from-home life…it’s that sometimes the hardest decisions aren’t the big, flashy, dramatic ones.
It’s the quiet ones.
The private ones.
The “I think I’m finally admitting this dream isn’t my dream anymore” ones.

Those will rock your world harder than any rebrand, any launch, or any meltdown in the Walmart parking lot. (Don’t worry, I’ve checked off all three.)

And that brings me to this past week:
The week I finally realized that scaling down wasn’t a setback…
It was a strategy.

The Honestly Annoying Truth About Letting Things Go

Let me be real with you:
I didn’t want to walk away from some of the things I’ve been building.
I didn’t want to admit that certain projects felt draining.
I didn’t want to label anything a “failure,” even if the only thing failing was my motivation to touch it ever again.

Percolated VA?
Dead. Flatlined.
Not even a pulse.
I was dragging that poor offering behind me like it was a wagon full of bricks and “good intentions.”

Etsy?
Cute. Fun.
But she’s been demoted to “upload a thing when the brain cells allow.”
No pressure. No expectations. No guilt.

And honestly…
Admitting those two shifts stung my pride.

Because we all have that tiny voice that whispers:
“If you walk away, doesn’t that mean you couldn’t handle it?”
“If you stop, doesn’t that mean you failed?”
“If you let go, what will people think?”

But here’s what I realized while sitting in a cramped camper next to my snoring dog husband combo:

Walking away isn’t a failure. It’s a filter.
It removes what’s not meant to grow so your energy can actually feed the things that ARE.

My Brain When I Tried to Keep Everything Alive:

❌ “Oh yeah, I can run a VA business, build a Skool community, film TikToks, grow a dog influencer account, run Etsy, study Human Design, post daily, revamp my blog, and also remember to eat.”

Meanwhile, my soul:
“Girl… be serious.”

There comes a moment — a quiet, almost spiritual little click — where you realize:

Just because you can do everything doesn’t mean you should be doing everything.

I’m a mom of five, a creator, a business owner, a human design student, and also… someone who occasionally needs a nap that lasts two business days.

Something had to give.

And instead of waiting for burnout to drag me face-first across the floor like a cartoon character, I chose to step back intentionally.

Why Scaling Down is Actually Scaling UP

Here’s what happens when you stop forcing dead plants to bloom:

1. Your creativity wakes back up.

Suddenly, you’re excited again.
Ideas flow.
You feel lighter.
You want to show up.

2. The right projects get your best energy.

My Rise & Grind Society?
That deserves the GOOD brain.
My Human Design program?
That deserves intuition, time, space, and clarity.

These two things light me up.
They grow me.
They challenge me.
They align with where I’m heading — not where I’ve been.

3. Your success speeds up, not down.

When you’re not scattered, you’re powerful.
When you’re not juggling, you’re intentional.
When you’re not drained, you’re magnetic.

4. Everything stops feeling like a chore.

Even working on Etsy feels fun again when it’s not a job — just a creative outlet.

🐾 And Then There’s Lagatha…

In the midst of all this realignment, Miss Lagatha decided she was going to blow up on Instagram, secure partnerships in under a week, and get noticed by freaking PETCO.
And within two weeks, she has scored two huge partnerships!! Keep your eyes open for those!!

Like… ma’am.

I’m over here having an existential crisis about my business model, and she’s just:
✨ existing ✨
✨ being adorable ✨
✨ collecting ambassadorships like Pokémon ✨

Her vibe is the blueprint:
Show up. Be real. Be cute. Rest often. Let the right opportunities come.

And honestly?
I’m taking notes from my own dog.

If You’re Reading This and Feeling That Same Push…

Let me give you the loving shove the universe gave me:

It’s okay to change your mind.
It’s okay to walk away.
It’s okay to quit things that aren’t working.
It’s okay to choose peace over pressure.
It’s okay to redirect without shame.

This isn’t failure.
This is evolution.
This is clarity.
This is leveling the hell up.

The things that matter?
You’ll make space for them.
The things that don’t?
Let them go.

That’s not quitting.
That’s leadership.

💜 So What’s Next?

Rise & Grind Society.
Human Design.
And growing my life with purpose instead of around pressure.

Everything else?
It’ll be there when I want it — not because I’m obligated to it.

And that, my friend, is the real CEO energy.

🐾 — A Note from the Office Staff —

“Hi, this is the office staff speaking (aka: the dogs). We have reviewed Mom’s decision to scale down the workload and we fully approve.
Less stress for her means more time for snacks, cuddles, and supervised outdoor potty breaks.
We look forward to her new streamlined schedule and remind her that naps are a required part of the workday.
Thank you for your cooperation. — Management 🐾”
